I was keeping track of my kids independent reading on looseleaf trackers but this is so much more handy and I love the pages where they can summarize each book and recall their favorite part and character. As a homeschooling mother is perfect for record keeping and I think it will really help their ability in narration. My kids enjoyed picking out their favorite colored cover and have fun rating each book. I even purchased one for myself!
Though this may be intended as an individual reading log (and I may need to get one for my son for that purpose), we are using it to keep track of our family read-alouds. Not sure how long it will take us to read 100 books out loud together, but I'm looking forward to having them documented in such a simple but beautiful journal. Thanks, BDP!
I bought these for my 9 & 7 year old boys. Since they got their reading journals they have doubled their monthly reading. They love the idea of “tracking” their reading, rating the books, and coloring in the books. It’s so rewarding for them to finish a book and update their journal! My only suggestion is to make the journal slightly larger, the spaces on the tracker page where they write the title and author is really small so we are using abbreviations.
